Unsurprisingly, Apple left us in the dark regarding some specifics about the iPhone 5 upon its release. Thankfully, the good folks over at Anandtech have done a bit of digging into those numbers you see bordering Apple's Apple A6 SoC, definitively figuring out that Cupertino's latest phone packs in a total 1GB of Samsung-source DRAM. Specifically speaking, the site clocks it 1,066Mhz, noting that it's comprised of a duo of 512MB dies in a "dual-channel LPDDR2 package with 32-bit channels." Further, Anandtech lists the the speed of iPhone 5's memory at 8,528MB/sec -- a "33-percent increase" over its 6,400MB/sec rating for the iPhone 4S', but well below the new iPad's hungry screen needs of 12,800 MB/sec.

Beyond that, the site has also confirmed that the A6 is apparently Apple's first truly in-house creation, as it's not a variant of either the Cortex-A9 (in the A5 and A5X) or the soon-to-released Cortex-A15. In other words, Apple is supporting hardware components that aren't present in Cortex-A9 or earlier. That's a quick summation of the details for now, so hit up the source links below if you want to read it all in full geek speak.
